My Story
Nelson Jaime is a retired NYC sanitation worker, born and raised in the streets of Williamsburgh, Brooklyn, New York, at a time when he had to fight twice as hard for half as much and still some of his best childhood memories are growing up there. He met his girlfriend and future wife in Brooklyn at the age of fifteen, and they have been together forty-one years. He still lives in Williamsburgh with his wife, Idy and his little girl chihuahua, Riley.
He attends Williamsburgh Pentecostal Church where he was baptized on Father’s Day (so appropriate!).
Nelson wrote his first book while extremely ill and was unsure if he would finish it or his mysterious illness would finish him. He has finished his second book and is working on drawings for his first children's book "That's not the Unicorn on my lunchbox!" (Working title). When Nelson was finally diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD), he thought his life was over, apparently God had other plans and continues to inspire and motivate him every day.
Nelson is currently on dialysis three time a week; his kidney is not functioning at 100% (it is less than 5%). He is believing since God gave him a new heart that He will also give him a new kidney, either through regeneration or by transplant.
Nelson’s latest work “Slaying The Dragon With The Word” is a result of desperation, preservation, and inspiration.
Nelson feels he deserves so much less and God has given him so much more, and lives by the adage, “There but for the grace of God go I.”
